KK, i went out to a few stores yesterday, all i could find was a 18gallon tub, Is there a tek for an 18gallon? im wanting to get my proportion correct. i will be using Fine verm and BRF. I also got a 1-1/4 Drill bit. And is pollyfill the same as a fish tank filter?
Is a 1-1/4 Bit to big for a 18gallon tub? Where should the holes be drilled?(cemetric) How much substrate should be used, and how much should i colonize?
Based off this Tek.

I've got about twenty 18 gallon tubs going right now. The gray Sterilite tubs from Wal-mart are all I use. I love that size. 1 1/4" bit will work great. Four holes on each of the longer sides of the tubs is plenty. 2 FULL quarts of colonized WBS spawned to 10 lbs. of hpoo gives me around a 5" substrate depth, which is pretty close to optimal for Cubensis. This setup can EASILY produce a 1/2 pound dry per tub. I've used "filter floss" in place of polyfill before. It worked fine. Just make sure it's 100% polyester.

Cool thanks for u'r reply,
But as far as the substrate, i guess i will use 10Lbs of verm? That does not sounds correct, Should i just use Hpoo, i havent used Hpoo yet. dont want to mess things up.
How many jars do u colonize for one 18gallon tub? And how do u put the cake and substrate together? do u Crouble the cake(of course)? Add some substrate, then a layer of crumbs then another layer of substrate, then u set it incubate again?
im preety much set on the tub build, i just need some insight on the process

10 lbs of verm? No. Vermiculite contains no nutrients and is used for water retention in your PF jars, and in a casing layer (which isn't necessary in a monotub).
Just make up your PF jars as you normally would. I'd use at least 6-8 jars for spawn, the more the better.
Get ahold of some hpoo or coir. Crumble your fully colonized jars into some pasteurized bulk substrate (poo/straw/coir) at around a 1:4 ratio (one jar of spawn to for jars worth of bulk sub) and mix well. Let it colonize, and just follow any good monotub tek from here on out.

You can find Polyfil in the fabrics section of your typical superstore.
Critter Country litter and coco coir are two great bulk items, both can be purchased at your local pet store.
Hope that helps.

Tub size doesn't really matter. I used a 30 gallon and it worked great. I use 6-8 pints of spawn, and 10-20lbs of horse manure. Colonization takes 5-7 days, then miracle gro MC goes on the top, then 3 days later its fruitin' time!

So i can crumble the cakes straight into Coir? mix it up, then put it back into colonize?
Sorry for all the questions, just a new tek for me.

Yes, but pasteurize the coir first before adding your cakes.
