I just finished "Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates". It was the first time I read any of Tom's books. I found his style unique, intelligent, and funny.

Tom Robbins wrote Even Cowgirls Get The Blues and Still Life. Both really cool, funny, enlightening reads. Skinny Legs and All is another of my favourites. I'm trying to read Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates right now but not really getting into as much as his other stuff... maybe it gets better as you go along? The movie version of Cowgirls was sooo fucking awful I could barely stand it, although the director was pretty brave for even trying to make it into a film. Cowgirls is a favourite among the lesbian population. (hence the KD Lang soundtrack in the movie, which I have to say was one of the best things about the movie and I don't even like KD Lang) I know a couple of lesbians who use the "thumb" signal to announce their sexuality.
