Hey I picked this one up at Joe's Smoke Shop (like that matters). $10!...It says to place it on the lid of the humidor (terrarium), but shouldn't it be level with the casins/cakes on the side?

Also...The RH, it says, will maintain at 70%.

I got this thing because when I set this F. Chamber up it was humid....but now it lost it. So I got it. Iam i losing humidity somewhere?

A hygrometer should work at any angle. Putting it at or near the cake height is OK.

Assuming you bought one that you could calibrate go here, http://www.shroomery.org/findorgrowthem/calibrateyourhygrometer.html and make shure it's accurate.

I paid $20 for mine and it was 20% off. The cigar shop owner said it had been calibrated on his $300 machine. All 7 Hygrometers in the case read the same.
Don?t assume it's accurate, check it.

hey thanks for the tip ! But mine doesn't have a reading thing. It actually does look like a punched cup cake.

It gets dunked in a half an inch of distilled water and gets placed in whatever...

As a former smoker of fine cigars, what you have there is what people use in humidors to keep the humidity inside the humidor at 70%. It is not a guage. You add some water to it and stick it in your humidor. This has no use for cultivation. Take it back.

They look like this and can be found here http://www.cigar-cellar.com/credo/humidor/page/p_hygro.htm as well as most cigar shops. This is one of many brands. Just make shure what ever you buy has an adjustment screw to calibrate it with.
