Hi All,

I need to build an emergency desiccation chamber (my pretties are ready much sooner than I thought they would be) and I was wondering if anyone has ever used (in place of calcium chloride) those little packets that come in vitamin bottles that are used to absorb moisture. If so, how many should I use? I have four or five of them, and I have a three quart tupperware container (plus lots of wire mesh).

I personally didnt have much luck with the silica gel in flower drying kits... Though I can say that drierite is great at suckin the moisture out of them

If you put them in front of a fan for 12-24 hours then into the chamber they should be dry in no time

Though if your in desperate need of desicant the flower drying kits are cheep enough... you just have to replace the silica gel twice a day or so (until the mushrooms are nearly dry)

Just my 2cents

Silica gel flower drying crystals from a craft shop, but fan dry them first.

Thanks everyone! I found some CaCl at my neighborhood hardware store. My babies are now sitting in front of a fan until tomorrow morning, upon which I will transfer them to the drying chamber.
