Or the bigger kicker, when they claim they've worked there before and question the way you're doing things... Who's wearing the fucking uniform buddy?! :crankey:

Feeling a bit powerful in your best buy uniform?

At least in retail customers usually get frustrated and leave.  Imagine doing roofing work on someones house, EXACTLY what they asked you to do, and then having the guy after the job is done say he's not paying because it's not what he wanted.

He was saying shit like "I used to do roofing for 5 years back in the 80's and that's not how we did it" and blah blah blah.  My boss told him if he wanted it done his way (the wrong way) he should have gotten his ass up on that roof and done it himself.

Some people just suck.

I can understand where you're coming from, really. It's like, if you didn't want my advise.. why the fuck did you ask me. On the other hand, I've dealt with some pretty dense so called "Techs" that I knew didn't know what they were talking about.
Example: I couldn't get through on my dialup connection, so I called my ISP to ask if their server was down. This tech never even bothered checking but instead starting asking me about my OS,modem..etc. Then he asked if I was using a dial up script. I told him I was and he said AHA, "We" found a script.. can't have that, you're going to have to delete it. I told him that he was full of shit, just check for me if the server is down. Finally the asshole did after wasting 1/2 hour of my time. It was. If I would of listened to this jerk, I would of caused myself a lot of unnecessary grief.
In short, a uniform or title is a good start at receiving respect, if you're obviously full of shit (Not saying you are) then people are going to question your ability/knowledge.

OK, fine. I'm sure you guys deal with a bunch of schmucks.

But you know what grinds my gears?

"Hi, welcome to tech support. Please try to use our voice recognition menus, which suck and never work. Then enter a bunch of information that we will just ask for again anyway. Then listen to, I swear to god, the shittiest lite jazz that mankind has ever produced."
"Hi, this is Mumbles McLow-Talker, how can I help you?"
"Sir, please try unplugging and replugging the router. Oh, you already did that? Well, better do it again then."
"Hmmm, that didn't work... well, there's nothing at our end that could be causing this. Must be Some Other Company's fault. Cya, bitch!"

Just yesterday, I had this word-for-word exchange with VOIP support:

"Did you change anything on your router recently?"
"No, I haven't."
"Yes, you did."

Turns out it was their NAT traversal that was fucked up, and I had to manually issue the right config info. I mean, NAT traversal? WTF?!? I'm a seriously expert user, and this took me all day! The god-damn tech support guy had no f-n clue! Honestly, how is the average user ever, ever supposed to figure this stuff out?

That is all. [/quote
thats fucking funny.

Today I had this guy try to tell me that it doesn't matter what the Ph, Alkalinity, or Calcium is in the spa. He has never messed with them ever.

I should note, he came in looking for help since his water was brown.

So...frustrating.
