I JUST BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF BROWN RICE SYRUP AND I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS USED IT ,OR KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THINK YOU CAN USE IT FOR PF-TEK? THIS PRODUCT IS GLUTEN-FREE AND WHEAT-FREE. THEY COOK THE BROWN RICE IN FILTERED WATER THEN EVAPORATE MOST OF THE WATER.whats LEFT IS WHOLE GRAIN GOODNESS....

I would imagine it may be able to add nutes to a substrate somehow,if you are talking about using just that and verm in a pf recipe it doesn't seem like it would work,I have never seen that stuff so I may be wrong but just the term "Syrup" makes me think it would just turn into a thick semi liquid mess that mycelium couldn't colonize

I WAS THINKING, OF WELL I'M GONNA TRY AND BOIL SOME DISTILLED WATER AND MIX IT WELL AND FOLLOW THE PF TEK USING THE "BROWN RICE WATER" IF YOU WILL. ALSO WOULD THIS BE A CHOICE FOR LIQUID CULTURE?

If you wanted to try it , I would do it like this . Figure the nutritional value in a 1/4 cup of BRF since this is the standard amount used in a 1/2 pint jar . Now , you would normally add a 1/4 cup of water to this mix . But , since you are removing a quarter cup of BRF , you will be adding an additional 1/4 cup of verm and hence increasing the amount of water need . Since the BRF doesn't really absorb a lot of the water , it more or less coats the damp verm and gives the verm a nutrtious coating . and you are increasing the amount of verm by 50% , I would do the same with the water and try 3/8 of a cup to start .
Now the fun part . The kick on cakes has always been low nutriuent value based on the small amount of BRF in the recipe . Thew verm is needed to acquire an airy texture that will allow for colonization . I imagine the syrup is pretty high in nutes . I would figure out how much of the syrup is needed to equall the value of a normal cake . Make up some cakes with this amount of syrup These will be the control group to compare the others too . You can also compare these results to normal cake yield . Make additional jars increasing the amount of nutes in each by 10% or so and see what happens . The only way to test the results would be to birth and fruit as cakes and compare yields .
I think this sounds pretty promising without actually seeing the ingredients of the syrup . But think about it , using verm as spawn . Get it to field capacity with a super rich mix of syrup and water . PC and inoculate with LC . Keep it on the dry side , less water , same amount of nutes , and replace that moisture with 20-30 cc's of LC . Everybody adds verm to subs get a better texture for faster colonization . How fast would straight verm colonize ?

No. They process the ground brown rice and water with enzymes to convert the starch to sugars. The result is a honey like syrup with mostly maltose and water as ingredients.

My main concern is what it will do in the PC . Maybe carmalize ? But , you've always been able to steam sterilize BRF , and in an hour , not 90 minutes like WBS and rye I could see trying some 1/2 gallons of this
Another thing , it's a hell of a lot easier to get the moisture right on a cake recipe where everything is measure then it is soaking , simmering and doing grains . At least from what I hear around here .
If non of that makes sense , it's because of the 3 xannax I fook getting ready for surgery ,lol . My mood should say "extremly medicated" lol

Thanks Anno , could have saved me a bunch of typing . I was thinking some super rich concentrated BRF nutes . Get the nutes of a 1/4 cup of BRF in a tablespoon of liquid . Even said it , without knowing the ingredients , lol .

So if you could dilute this syrup in the water , would it survive the PC and possibly work?

The first thing that I tried to do with it(about a year ago) was I made some basic PF jars(30) and I put 4 tablespoons in a just opened gallon of distilled water. Then used the distilled mixture just as the max formula says to do. It was slower than usual.I didn't see a faster change in any of the jars. The main difference was that I had 8 jars contam. I have never had that high of a contam rate with basic PF jars. I also tried it the same as a LC. Same as L.Karo and all I got was contams. I tried other little dumb shit but I am going to try other things since there is still 3/4 of a jars left. You can get it at wal-mart. BTW a couple of years ago I cooked some brown rice with twice as much water as it was supposed to have(12 minutes) and used the extra juice (about a cup and mixed it with a gallon of distilled water and that sped it up by a couple days.
The thing I have been doing the most the last 6 months is quarter pint PF jars. They colin. in half the time and I have no problem breaking them down and using as spawn in horse or ele poo. The fastest I have ever done.Don't get me wrong I still do my popcorn and rye but until I build another Lam.Flow this is way fast.

Brown rice syrup isn't all that. It's about like Karo. Sugar/maltose content is so high. It makes things prone to contamination.
It will make a coffee colored LC.
