Really Scared
    #652018 - 05/29/02 06:17 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

Everyone, I am really scared that the growth in my jar might be cobweb. I cant tell beween the two because this is the first time I have ever seen mycelium. or whatever. Its white still with no colored contams. And if it is cobweb I have 100% colonized jars of it.Not really sure if I should put them in Terrarium. Will mushies not grow on cobweb, and is there a hazard from breathing cobweb mold?

normaly, cobweb mold is noticable by its greyish tent. if the growth is bright white it's probably mycillium.

cobweb CAN BE more white than gray, so if its white, dont definately make it myc. and in a jar, its often very difficult to determine what it really looks like. so unless it changes color, i would continue, but seperate it when you open the jar. cobweb has the distinct look of hair, long, thin strands. you will be able to tell the difference between the myc fuzz, and cobweb strands once you see it.

btw NEVER BREATHE ANY CONTAM!!!!!!!

Cobweb is a contamination, try the Contamination forum.

There are pics there of actual cobweb you can use to compare what you have grown against.
