I think ergot works together with plague to do the same thing, it makes people want to make piles of bodies or dungeons for people to rot in so it can feed on there flesh. Look at charlie manson. The parasites dont hesitate to use there own propagators as food also.

He's going to get rid of my ant and termite problems for $1 forever?
Doesn't seem like much of a profit margin.
Great idea though. I have a bit of a hard time believing that it's effective against ALL social insects as claimed. I bet it'll make a pretty good product though. Props to Stamets.

somewhere else Stamets says that it costs him about 25 cents.. isn't a 75% profit margin big enough..
here is one radio interview about this invention of his.. (54mins.)
Quote:
Food Chain Show #525: Another Magic of Mushrooms Guests: Author and Mycologist Paul Stamets
Subject: 600,000 homes are attacked by termites each year, costing U.S. homeowners about $1.5 billion. The answer to date has been ozone-depleting methyl bromide. This leads us to ask, “Can nature provide a better answer?”
Topics include a brief look into the world of mycelium; how Stamets discovered that spores from certain mycelium could allow for the control of ants and termites; and how this discovery might lead to a healthier environment.
