850 watts should be enough to heat just about any PC. It should work fine for a 7 quart.

$4.99 ... is it really that big of a loss to take a gamble on?

If you have a very small, thin walled PC. 750 watt will work. BUT, IT WILL TAKE A LONG LONG TIME, to work.
1000 watt is really the minimum & 1200 & up IS FAR BETTER.

I just bought a single burner hot plate from Cadco for $132.00 shipped. It's 1500 watts with a nice 7 1/8" cast iron burner. Infinite heat controls and should be able to heat my big ass 941 up to temp inside an hour. There is currently an eBay auction on this exact unit(used), so you might get lucky and win it. Check it out:

If you're serious about this hobby and plan to be using a hot plate for a long time, do yourself a favor and spend the money on a new one. Good luck to you.

The right type hot plates are great. If you cannot use a kitchen stove top.
If you have the room? Install a thrift store electric stove, in your garage. (or wherever, if you have space with 220V juice) You can often find them for $50.
Gas range top burners are the BOSS. Simply because they will bring an AA 941, to pressure. QUICKLY. Plus, can be adjusted to HOLD the prefect temp & pressure. Hours & Hours.

You can also use camping propane burners. Make sure you get at least 10,000 BTU but no more than 12-15,000 BTU. These can be hooked up to propane lines and attached to 5 gal tanks, which would last a good amount of time.
