I'm looking for some hot areas for graduate research in the field of psychology, which I did not major in. Can any offer some help?

not a psychology graduate, but my wife is.
I dont need to ask her to know that areas dealing with racism and sexism are always big.
I will ask here when she gets home.

Well long term I want to give psychedelics and MDMA to people in clinical therapy, especially people with personality disorders and mild autism. I can't really write that on my purpose statement though.
My freind said I'm interested in Personality Psychology.

With psych. you should probably decide whether you want to do clinical work or research.
Psychedelic therapy is mostly in the "research" stage at this point.
If this is your goal keep in mind you can approach it from a number of disciplines: pharmacology, neuroscience, etc.

Do what your interested in. Your life will be a lot easier.
Having said that, the hottest growing field in Psychology, is Neuroscience.
Clinical Psychology will always be in high demand, due to mental illness, but the pay is decreasing compared to national averages.
Neuroscience is growing daily, and grants are being awarded tenfold compared to Clinical.

If you're worried about pay, I'd think twice about entering the science field. Also, consider the current state of grant funding. It's quite dismal (although on the positive note, it can only improve).
If I were you, I'd search pubmed to get an idea of the kinds of things that are actually going on, then contact those professor's to see whether they are accepting students and what the process is.

Do you have a vague idea of what you are interested in within psychology? if you're not sure, grab a first year text book and flick through to get an idea of the major topics.

I mean if Pacman affected our generation as kids, we'd all be running around in a darkened room, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music.
