 Mescaline vs. shrooms

I have been reading about mescaline for a while now but one thing I am still unsure about is its intensity. Is a high dose of mescaline as intense as a high dose of mushies (5+ grams)? To me, it sounds as if mescaline is weaker when compared to LSD or shrooms. Set me straight people.

I only did mescaline once and from my experiences with mushrooms and lsd I realized that there were times when an lsd trip seemed more controllable or colorful then a mushroom one and vice versa, so I can't tell you if it will be the same for you. It also depends on the concentration and so on... but my mescaline trip seemed very happy, not so insightful as on mushrooms but nevertheless spiritual in it's own way and until now the most colorful trip I ever had. Hope it helps

I've never seen, or even heard of a bad mescaline trip, since the experience is so dreamy and trance like (don't take this as a claim that you cannot have one). In terms of strength, then obviously by varying dose any hallucinogen can be as powerful as any other. Mescaline at high doses is pretty easy to handle in comparison to acid or mushrooms at around the same intensity.

If you take a lot of mescaline, you can have a very mind-fucking experience. If you get a big enough dose and it is scary, the difference is that it will last three times longer than a mushroom trip. Mescaline can take you to the same place as mushrooms. The San Pedro spirits are very powerful. Do not underestimate the strength. Getting a large trip off san pedro takes skill in preparing and finding a potent cactus. Most orf the guys who claim its easier than shrooms have not really gone far enough with it. Always respect the San Pedro spirits...

On about 45g of san pedro flesh, the experience is visual, stimulating yet calming, insightful, yet you can still communicate with sober people. It is very serene. It is definitely tripping, but in comparison mushrooms create this edgy feeling where sometimes I feel uncomfortable, like I'm on the brink of insanity.
I think its best to say that each chemical has its own character though, and the two aren't really comparable. Intensity is dose and setting related for all the said chemicals, they each have their own unique qualities though.

I tried San Pedro once, I just ate as much of the slimy green flesh as I could, and I have to say it was a very speedy sort of body buzz, with no visuals at all.

Pretty sure you have to make an extraction. Just gorging on the raw flesh won't give you the experience you're looking for.

Sorry I was talking about the actual peyote cactus. I know I can get San Pedro but don't feel like eating gobs of it just to trip.

My way of measuring has always been with fresh cactus. For pachanoi, it is always 1000 grams fresh. For my holy grail pachanoi, 1000 grams took my further than I ever imaginied possible. It could hold its wieght with any heavy duty shroom trip. I blend it, skin and all, simmer at low heat for 30 minutes and Really press it though cheese cloth. Than repeat the simmering and pressing one more time. The cactus is water starved before preperation, and it is in the growing season. Dormant cacti are weaker for some reason. Getting that snot tea down is really hard. It is a lot easier to take a big dose of shrooms. Too easy sometimes!
I have read that peruvianus takes less, but not the ones I tried, but again, I'm sure I just need to find the right one.

Mescaline can be very intense, but it is different from mushrooms. Maybe more similar to LSD but even less thought warping and more empathic, warm and heavy feeling.
One thing to consider about the intensity is how long it lasts. A mescaline peak can last 4 hours and the trip is very long. Mescaline also has a pretty heavy body high which contributes to the intensity, and it is also VERY visual.
It might not be as crazy/roller-coaster or as emotional volatile or cathartic as mushrooms, but mescaline is a strong force that moves slowly, which can be intimidating. In most situations it is easier to handle, and even to control, but that doesn't make it any less powerful.

I definately need to get my hands on some cactus then. Last time I checked there was a step by step extraction on youtube.
