Anyone have any experience with Cocogro™ coco coir fiber?
I was thinking about ordering a couple bales from RVF.

It sounds like it would work well.
5kg for $16 is a good price.

Is it "COIR" or "Fiber"?
That looks like hydroponic growing media. Prolly won't work too well.

That's the thing the description is coir fibre.
I'm thinking though that it's closer to coco peat than fibre, but maybe I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe.. The pic has compressed bricks that look like coir, but I've no idea how fiber is packaged.

From the same place this stuff looks like a great bulk-sub.

Well considering it's twice as expensive as the cocogro, I wouldn't bank on it.
Plus, I dunno about having that much perlite, silica clay, and compost accelerator in there....sounds less than ideal.

CocoGro is composed of long fibers and is double-sieved to reduce dust and give ample air space within the mix. CocoGro has excellent drainage properties and can be used over a longer period of time than coir fiber with shorter fibers.
Found this on another site... not very promising.

No it doesn't sound like coir.. Maybe a mix of coir and fiber?
Just stick to the pet stores for coir. Five-finger it if ya have to.

The question should be , what are you planning on using it for ? Peeps said forever that the fiber wouldn't work because of it's texture , but that was for use as a casing material . If you plan on using it as a substrate , I don't think that fiber problem would matter now .
Good Luck

Usually I order coir bales from Mycosupply, but RVF has cheaper prices and cheaper shipping & handling. I'll contact them and see if its chunky or finely shredded.
HippieChick I use it as a substrate with hpoo.
