I recently grew Hypsizygus ulmarium on plain pf tek, no modifications. I'm experimenting as we speak with various amounts of hardwood sawdust in place of the vermiculite to see what works best with woodloving species. So far, I've had some fairly nice shiitake from pf cakes, and of course oysters grow on anything, so they do fine too.

you got the PFtek down, why not move on up?
the technique was designed for ps cubensis, now your horizons are broadening, you should try new techniques:
