Help! My hygrometer broke down.

Yesterday I smoked a pipe and after I did that Ive decided to try and grow mushrooms one more time. Everythung was cool. I've builded a sick growroom from an old aquarium and even sterilized one jar with subtrate inside (its still lying in the kitchen thou because after it got sterilized I got burned out and fell asleep). But that was after. Before that, Ive tried to kill all the bacteria on the hygrometer by washing it with water in the sink (if i would be doing it now Id probably just swipe it with some rubber alcohol, but I was smoked at the moment). After Ive done that the hygrometer went out and stopped sowing the humidity level or temperature. What I think happened is the battery died after being soaked in water. Will my hygrometer still work?

Also: how can I change the temperature inside the aquarium? I know that there's such a thing as an aquarium heater, but how can I bring the temperature down in case I have to (I dont know the temperature inside right now, because the hygrometer is down)?

Very much doubt it... it sounds like you got water in its internal circuitry.
If there's any hope for it, it's this: you can use whatever method you were planning to dry your shrooms to dry out the hygrometer (you were planning on drying your shrooms, right?)
If you have a dehydrator, toss it in there. If not, you can try putting it in your oven at the LOWEST POSSIBLE SETTING, and watch it to make sure its not getting baked.
A close acquaintance of mine has dropped his cellphone in his pool before (well, 3 times, but who's counting?) He pops it in the oven, and after about an hour it's good as new (well, after it cools).
Pretty doubtful it'll work again, but it's worth a shot.

Well, I haven't thought of how Im gonna dry mushrooms yet, because before getting to dry them I actually've got to grow some mushrooms (it might be a simple task when u actually had 3-4 flushes alredy, but for me its still a challenge.) But I will try to put it inside the oven for 5-10 min. Thanks.

YAY! Ive tried to put the battery back inside and it works!!! It works a bit slow (it takes couple of secs before the temperature changes from F to C and a minute or two to find out the humidity), but IT WORKS!!! I feel so relieved. Thanks for ur effort Sillicybin thou. I was about to put the thing inside the oven (good thing I didnt lol) when it started to work. Maybe it read my mind and knew it was gonna get even worse... lol. Thanks.

Glad to hear it's working. Stop smoking out while you grow! Smoke afterwards.

If it was the calibration it would just be off a little. Since it won't show any its Screwed. Try letting it dry out some more and maybe MAYBE it will work. Also use the search feature for Fruiting Chamber Temperatures.
