how long will my tea stay potent?
    #648679 - 05/27/02 08:24 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

A few weeks ago I went shroom hunting and came back with about 80 shrooms (not sure of species). After putting them away to dry for a few days I took a look at them and some of them were starting to go bad (I guess my dessicant was fucked) and there were little white worms crawling through them. So I picked out all the worms I could and decided to boil up the lot of it before i could loose any more. so I boiled it up into a tea, tried some, its good and potent, but I have a few hundred ml left and am wondering if it will keep its potency or should I attempt to use it all up? any info would be handy thanks:)

I did that once, left it for about a week, and it didnt smell too good, remember its fungus extract, not a good thing to keep... it can grow some nasty shit most probably... i hate those little white worms, they're pretty good at hidin just drain your tea through a paper towel or something, it doesnt seem to reduce the potency, better than having worms stuck in your teeth....;]

Again,
WORMS?!
Someone please talk about the worms.
I dont like worms, and i had no idea shroms could grow worms.
Does this occure when drying, and it gets moldy? What.
Are they the kind of worms that get stuck in your bowels?
In your heart?
Oh God WORMS!!!!!

It would make sense to find worms in a portion of the wild picked ones I guess. They do grow in shit. Homegrown shouldn't have problems with worms though. Right? Right?!

The worms are pretty nasty little fuckers but i find that if you tap the shrooms out when you pick them an rinse them off right away it will remove them for the most part. An yes shrooms from the wild do have worms an beetles that you will bring back. to answer the question on if they are still good probaly not unless their's some that are still in normal shape if so get some captain morgan spiced rum some type of juice to mix with the rum an ice put shrooms an other stuff in blender, an blend away, drink down fast an 5-10 minutes later prepare to be very fucked up. make sure you know how much your dosing on so you dont send yourself into a egoless world unprepared. peace an enjoy whats left.

WORMS!
Yes, a lot of wild-picked mushrooms of any kind are often infested with 'worms'.
They are basically mini magots. A good way to see first off if the shrooms are already infested by worms before you pick them is look on the caps, and if they have little trails going just under the skin chances are you have worms or beetles.
If they have not yet reached the cap (they crawl up through the stem) then a good precautionary measure is to remove the caps from the stalks as soon as you pick em, then just make sure that you always boil the stalks or dry them if you dont want to get worms in ya. If your picked shrooms do have worms you will know about it, the little fuckers can eat a whole shroom in a matter of a day or two.
And believe me it is weird when ya come home and you think "what the fuck, someone has stolen half those shrooms I picked yesterday!" then you notice piles of brown worm infested goo - ugh! Luckily I have managed to mostly avoid worms this year especially with picking off the stems.
By the way I am talkin woodlovers here so its not only shit loving mushrooms that get them, although they get them more I think.
