Having them sit on the rocks is FINE. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
BTW, nice fruits, make sure you keep you cakes moist. And maybe after your first flush, consider not only a dunk, but a dunk and averm roll. Its simple. You just roll the cake across some verm, wet that verm, and volia, more water for you cakes, and bigger flushes!
Good Luck! And Have Fun!

Thats not perlite for one thing, and personally I LOVED sticking my cakes right on the perlite back when I grew cakes, and I had no problems with it. As long as the perlite isn't a soupy mess. Then again, with some nice verm, I often didn't stick them right on top of the perlite. But it doesn't hurt anything IMO. I am sure there are others who would agree. You don't have to always follow every direction to the letter. Unless your a noob, then its safer to, NO offense intended, and I am not calling you yourself noob BTW.

fantastic! I will keep everyone updated with these cakes... I am planning on seeing what grain and all that is about on the next run! These will most likely be my only cakes ever... a learning booster more or less...

Here we go!

The following picture shows the 2 b+ cakes that are really fruiting big time! The one closest to the bottom of the pic was dunked for 24hours before going in to the FC...the other b+ was not dunked. The differences I can see are that the one that was dunked... has larger bases from which the fruit bodies are growing and they are growing in more clumps and throughout the whole cake. Not just from the bottom.

Thanks All! Peace and Love.

They really didn't get very large. I am surprised.

So, I think that they didn't get very large for a couple of reasons...
too much humidity. not enough FAE. No roll in verm.
I dunked 3 of the cakes for about 36 hours in sterile water, in the fridge. Then I rolled in dry verm and misted the heck out of 'em. I put them back in the FC. Nothing happened for a couple of days..
Then I moved them into my newly set up GH... and now they are fruiting from the TOPS of the cakes instead of the bottom like the first flush.
First flush from all 3 of these cakes yielded 7g dry.
I will keep this updated for the 2nd time!

Well, I just harvested a 2nd flush from my 2 b+ cakes... They were dunked and rolled in verm this time... I put them in my new GH 2 days ago... and I got 75grams wet out of 2 cakes... the largest one weight just under 8g wet. This is quite a bit better than the first flush! I don't know how this compares but... I am switching to casing anyway!
