True that. If I were to make another "menthe" absinthe, I'd probably do it like so:

33gr mint leaf 33gr aniseed 25gr wormwood herb 1 lemon peel
add 1.5 liters 50% alcohol
draw off 1 liter

When you say " steep " the herbs overnight, do you mean just soak at room temp overnight?
Also, when you make your wok still and turn the heat on the three liters, how do you heat control? On high at first until it boils then down to low? steady medium? steady low? How long approximately does it take to get the 1 litter out of three( using proper heating technique?)

Yup, if you do it by the book the recommendation is 12-24 hours.

Basically I bring it to a boil on a high temperature, then turn down the gas to medium.
When I'm distilling wash (14% --> 50+%) I put 4 liters in the kettle, heat it up (lasts 15minutes) and then distill for 40 minutes. In these 40 minutes I draw off a liter of typically 55%. In the next 5 minutes I collect the distillate, throw out and replace the wash and start the process anew, so for me turning 4 liters of 14% into 1 liter 55% costs little under 1 hour, including heatup phase.
You need to optimize what works for you. Your pots and pans are different, your stove is different and unless you still 14% Turbo wash your wash will be different.

Nice article, but nothing new 
Today I wokstilled some stock alcohol again:
--25 liters of 14% alcohol was created with 6kg sugar and half a packet of Alcotec-24 in a weeks time.
--through distillation, in six hours time I drew off 6 liters of 54% alcohol
pure alcohol in wash -- 3.69 liters (as 25 liters 14%) pure alcohol distilled -- 3.24 liters (as 6 liters 54%) pure alcohol yield -- 88%
Total cost: $7.50/3.24ltr pure alc = $2.32/liter pure alc ($0.88/liter vodka)

Just fired up the still with this recipe. Took a teaspoon of it for a taste test, and it's prety good, though the mint is a little too strong. I'll back off a little the next time around.
For the wash, I used a quart of home made cider, a pint of peach wine that didn't turn out as good as I wanted, 500 ml of my first atempt at distilling (peach brandy) that got too much tails in it and the feints from yesterday's apple brandy, and topped up with water.
The only thing I changed from the recipe was to use fresh mint instead of dried, which may be why it's a little too strong.
I'll give it another taste test when I'm done collecting hearts.

After collecting 600 ml of hearts, I decided that the amount of mint was right. It was probably just too strong at the start. I also collected another 600 ml divided more or less evenly into 4 jars. In a day or two I'll decide what will be added to my jar of hearts and what to redistill into a second batch.
