Google's Reign: A glimpse into the future of the Information Media Industry
    #6481198 - 01/21/07 12:55 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Rd0p0VgcT_I

this is a fictional historic account from 2014 of the development of the information media industry and the implications it has...

I was particularly interested by the phrase "a new story is constructed for each user", and the concept of "custom content" tailored according to your individual consumer profile.

The thing is that most of this stuff is already happening with sites like myspace, which is just a huge advertising/marketing data collection center.

What do you think?

I agree. Too many people are being conned into only using the internet for their research. ANYONE can put ANYTHING online and we have a society of extremely gullible people who think if they see it on TV or read it on a website or newspaper, that it is true.

"Well, someone else looked into it, so I don't have to." seems to be the mindset.

We live in a society of robots and that is SCARY because robots are programmed to do whatever they are told. Look around at the robots you see in your daily life...

Anyone who controls the flow of information and data can more easily control what people think and do.

Visualize it from 1 person to 1 other person. Did you know that 1 or 2 large corporations own the majority of the media outlets of Earth(TV, newspapers, radio, etc. etc. etc.) http://www.newscorp.com

That is why, no matter where you look, you get the same ridiculous news story which has no real bearing on existence.

This is a world we live in and internet can offer us both negative and positive aspects. I think we have the duty (to ourselves) that we train our mind in such a way that we can be able to discern fantasy from reality. Besides that, having access to so much and diversified information helps us correlate things and improve our logic. We have also the access to true information that before the invention of the internet was hard to close to impossible to have access to.
By that I'm here to sustain my strong opinion that evolution (in every possible aspect and in this particular case scientific) is here to serve us if we know how to use it properly

:bunny::bunnyhug:
All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs
