awesome pics you've got there and I still wanna see those mush from the horse dung you spotted! might be some cuberz like GG found from horses in Flo ya never Know where abouts in Houston are you located which you found those mush in the woods / swamp

That's a big one for sure. It might be a species of Bondarzewia, but I could be wrong. Nice pics none the less.

is all this cold n ice going to damage the mycelium? on the next warm day perhaps are mushies rising,,, or has the ice ruined that.

Damage what type of mycelium? Like for tropical psilocybe's? If so, yes. You'll need a few weeks or more of the proper conditions for these species to start seeing new fruitbodies.

In the future please PM users with these kind of questions, asking for hunting partners on here is against the forum rules. Thanks.

Well i have found a small harvest of cubes years back two days after a freeze I'm not saying that shrooming will be good in the near future but it is likely you Houston folks will find something active .

the mushrooms one finds within a few days following a freeze are often those which had fruited beforehand and are still somewhat fresh. for mushrooms to fruit after a freeze [and not all will] you generaly need a warming period that is within the fruiting parameters of that species, lasting at least as long as that mushroom takes to fruit, plus a period of recovery from physical damage of frost as may be the case and of course; the colony must not have suffered so much shock as to 'stall' it's metabolic action [e.g. the ground must not have frozen, etc.]. for a mushroom to fruit, the colony does not need to be 'growing' per se. but it needs to be still in a condition of health suitable and in a condition environmentaly suitable for the biochemical requisites for fruiting just as was needed before any freeze. certain conditions will cause certain mushrooms to stop fruiting more of less easily than others.

It obviously wasn't a lengthy freeze, as there's no way you'd be seeing a tropical species if it was.
