Compost casing mistake. - Final update with pic -

Hello all.
I'm on my first grow and I think I have made a big mistake. For my casing I have used multi purpose compost which contains "a unique blend of nutrients". I had some in the house and stupidly thought that it would do. My casing is now in my fruiting chamber and I have myc poking through in a couple of areas. From what I have read I'm guessing the casing layer is just going to colinize into a big myc brick with no grow at best or get contaminated at worse. Am I right in thinking this? What would be my best approach to sorting this out. Thank you.

maybe it will just spawn to it and you will be able to case it afterwards. what kind of compost was it exactly?

This is the stuff - http://www.lovethegarden.com/products/composts/levmulti.html It doesn't really say too much on the pack apart from it containing Nitrogen, Phosphate, Pottasium, Trace elements and Water retaing agent.

What does the stuff look like? Can you tell if there is lots or any peat in it? How thick a layer did you add? Don't worry about it too much, even if it turns into a big brick of myc it would still probably fruit in the right conditions.
You should wait for some of the more experienced posters opinions too, but i would be tempted to patch it with some straigt verm mabey 1cm and cover the rest with .5cm of straight verm to help with some surface water retention. Thats really only if it is colonizing the whole thing, some pictures would help.
Good luck, JJJJJJ

I forgot to add it's a 50/50 mix with verm. The casing layer is about half an inch thick and the compost feels more like peat than compost. I could be wrong. It does feel pretty fine though. I take it I should leave it in the f/c now but do I have to keep misting and fanning it? Thanks for your help.

Compost is not suitable as a casing material. Compost is a substrate material. It will probably colonize fully, then fruit. Cubes don't require a casing anyway. If you choose to case after the compost colonizes, simply use peat/verm as the casing. RR

Well I left it as it was and continued misting and fanning and today I find I have two new arrivals. Not too exciting for a lot of you but it cheered me up no end. I did it!
I should stop misting directly now shouldn't I?

I always continue misting through pinning even though allot of people do not,You be the judge if it looks like it can use a misting than mist it if it looks moist leave it alone.....And yea you should stop misting DIRECTLY,just spray the air above it and let it gently fall on it

Two days later and they're growing but seem a bit skinny compared to other pictures I've seen of them at this stage. They're moist and humid enough so I'm guessing air exchange may be the problem as I'm out all day and only get to fan them morning and evening. Any comments much appreciated. They're Ecuadorian by the way.

Cheers mate, I've opened the vents on my mini greenhouse and stuffed with the inards from an old pillow. I'm not working this weekend so I can give them more attention. I'm learning so much from this site. Thanks all.
Unfortunatly I dont have the means to drill holes in the bottom of the propogator but I'm hoping this will help along with fanning.
Btw I got the electric propogator from B&Q in the UK for £12. You plug it in and it sits at around 80.

Skip the pillow guts, there is no need to filter air in a fruiting chamber

They grow quickly don't they? I picked these this morning and I have 3 other casings on the go, one of which is starting to pin. Happy days!
Thanks for your help everyone. Much appreciated.
