C-Tek for Panaeolus
#6457874 - 01/14/07 08:14 AM (18 years, 7 days ago) |
|
|

If you like to grow strong Panaeolus the easy way, then you can use this brand new C-Tek invented by Cyano from Germany. All you need is plain flower soil, some budgie food and of cource the Panaeolus spores.
You fill the jars only on the inner outside (!) with wet soil, and leave some room/space in the center of the jar. Then grab the budgie food - who had been soaked in water over night - and fill that hole in the middle of the jar.
The soil builds a mantle around the budgie food. OK? Sterilise the jars for 90Min. That's all you got to do.
Inoculate the spore solution when the jars have cooled down. Put the jars in a dark place and wait untill the mycel shows through. Now your cake is ready to fruit. Just as a regular PF-tek cake. Use the same fool prove procedure. Fruiting temperature 27°Celsius.
Go to youtube and search: Panaeolus grow tek and see how I did it.

Boiling won't work as they are using grains.
It is essentially a ready cased grain all in one container, similer to Vyrk's system with ready set up trays.

I'll update accordingly! Unfortunately, the OP is perma banned on here so we won't be hearing from him. I checked over at Mycotopia and he was never there. BUT people did start threads about him and his tek and it got a warm reception. However, no one seems to have ever actually tried it... talked about doing it but never posted results if they ever did.

I know waylitjim had an easy pan tek with much more feedback on it. He posted about it here and on topia. Basically the pf tek with a little manure added to the substrate.

There's also this, Shea25's tek which I've used and got some poop-cakes colonizing at the mo. Has the extra crumble & case step to do though so its not as easy as just birth & fruit.

I know there are other TEK's, but I like this one... mainly b/c it's different (I like doing unconventional things) and also b/c no one has duplicated it and shared the results w/ the community. I'll try it and post my results, success or failure. B/c if the OP's results can be duplicated... this is a ridiculously easy and cheap TEK to do that I'm sure everyone would love to try.

This looks like a waste of time. The guy in the video did not get but maybe 1/4 the quanity that I got from PF/manure cakes
recipe for 10 jars, 5 cups vermiculite,3 cups manure,10 tablespoons BRF, 1.75 cups water, pressure cooked 90 minutes.

I took this a few days ago, they're coming along nicely but I think I might have some trich in some of them on the WBS but it's hard to tell b/c of the dirt. I separated those from the group just in case but I'm gonna let them go b/c if what I think I see as trich, it's very small and the myc seems to be overtaking it. The 3 on the left are cambo Sandose and the 3 on the right are cyan Jamaica...

Im confused as to how this would be any different than just mixing the whole sub together. Why not just make the cake a conglomeration of the WBS, and soil?
Though I admit that this thread is exciting to me.....Ive got something similar going with some Mex A.

I know OoBYCoO , and he will report on results, good or bad.
If he is off having fun, then I am happy for him.
I would PM him, but if he were online, then he would be chiming in instead of me.
Take care,

New here so forgive me if I'm butting in, but wouldn't this leave exposed grain on the outside of the cake when you birth?
I was under the impression that this would increase chance of contamination... or would it not matter once it's colonized?

I was referring to mixing the entire sub prior to inoculation. It could be done in a jar, but would be more practical in a bag.
Also, for people that want to follow this thread. At the bottom of the post theres a little finger with a ribbon on it. If you click it, it will pop up in your thread list when theres an update. Not that posting is a bad thing.
Just sayin'.....

Sorry guys for the delay... I took an unexpected getaway to Atlantic City... to bad I lost all my play money on the black jack tables. I never birthed them b/c I went away but I will be doing so immediately. I'll snap some pics later today before I do and post! Like JD said, I will post for better or for worse... afterall, I did this to satisfy my own curiosity and if successful provide an easy alternative to the community!

Only this one made it, the rest were contam'ed beyond saving...

I will attempt this again once I get the replacement overpressure plug for my PC.
I'll continue to update the progress of that one cake, which is the cambo Sandose.

What was the culprit? Bacteria? I don't see anything in those photographs you're referring to as a contamination.
