Guitar foot pedal problem
    #6452462 - 01/12/07 04:48 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Something is wrong with my BOSS effects pedal. When I put a 9v battery in it, it works for about a minute, then quits. The only way to work it is to hook it up to an AC adaptor. I'm not sure if it is sucking the power from the battery or what.

not sure what the problem is. but isn't using the AC adaptor better than battery anyhow? i mean, what if you are gigging and you just run out of battery juice.

Yeah, definetely use the adaptor. It's also better for the earth.

Ps:Boss pedals suck ass, if you can afford it get better shit, like analogman's pedals. They last FOREVER, seriously.

Are you any good with electronics?

There may be a partial short between the positive and negative connections for the battery.

Does the battery get hot?

No, the battery does not seem to get hot.

I'm not very good with electronics, but I cut the plastic around the connector open, and both wires seem soldered fine. If it is a connection problem, it might be inside, but to get inside I would have to remove the circuit board which is soldered to the box itself for grounding I guess.

I wouldn't mind using an AC adaptor, but I get a crazy buzzing no matter what outlet I use.

That's because Boss pedals blow. Start using quality pedals, adaptors and pups, shield your guitar, and it will go away as if it never happened.
