Ok.....here we go again...
    #6445823 - 01/10/07 06:24 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Ok, ive asked this like 3 times and still no straight answer....

Im using the Easy Poo Tek which is the following...

This tek is for people who want to grow on cakes with bigger flushes, and more potency. This method works for me every time.

Items needed
Mason jars- 1/2 pint or pint TAPERED JARS
Vermiculite
Wild Bird Seed
Strainer
Dry manure- horse poo works the best but I also have luck using Black Kow brand bagged manure.
Spore or mycelium syringe
Rubbing Alcohol
Coffee filters
rubber bands

WBS Preparation
Place 1/4 cup of wbs in a bowl or pot for every jar you will be making, and fill the container with water,
now remove all seeds that float and discard them, you will need to stir seeds a couple of times to get the floaters that
are being held down by sinking seeds.
Soak Wbs for 24-36 hours
Immediately drain the water from the container and rinse the seed, this is easiest in a strainer,
then place the seed in a pot and fill with water again.
Simmer on low heat stirring frequently until 10% of the seeds have exploded
Immediately remove from heat and strain the wbs and rinse with cold water.
Let the wbs drain until there is no water leaking out, I usually shake the wbs to make sure all of the excess water is out.

Jar preparation
Flip lids so metal is facing down and poke 4 small holes in the lid the same as the PF tek
Wash jars thoroughly with warm water and soap, then turn them upside down on a paper towel until you are ready to use them.

Substrate preparation
I find this tek works best if you mix one jar at a time, to make sure each jar has proper moisture content
Place 1/4 cup of vermiculite in a bowl and saturate with bottled water until there is a small pool of water at the bottom
of the bowl, then tilt the bowl and drain the excess water.
Next put 1/4 cup of the freshly drained wbs in the bowl, then add 1/4 cup of DRY POO in the bowl and mix well
Load this mixture in your jars until you have 1/4 inch of room at the top of the jar.
Clean any substrate particles off of the 1/4 in of glass at the top using a paper towel that is damp with alcohol, then add
dry verm until the jar is full, then screw lid on face down and cover the jar with aluminum foil

Pressure cooking
Pressure cook the jars for 90 Min's at 15 psi then let the pressure cooker cool down to room temp BEFORE OPENING

Inoculation
Flame sterilize the needle on the syringe and cool and clean it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball
Inject each hole of the jars with 1/4 cc of spore or mycelium solution, making sure to wipe the needle with alcohol soaked
cotton ball every time your about to put the needle in an inoculation hole.

Cover jars with 2 coffee filters and secure with a rubber band, and incubate jars at 81-84 degrees F.
Most of my jars colonize in 1-2 weeks.

Now, before u add the poo to the mixing bowl, do u need to pasturize it?

If so, how can i do that? (please be descriptive)
If not, do i need to do anything with the poo or just open up the bag and scoop out what i need?

Or are there any other methods that work? Please help.

posting multiple threads about the same thing clutters the forum and is rather annonying.

That should work. No reason to pasteurize the poo before you sterilize it. The only part that I don't know about is you method of obtaining the correct water content. I would suggest you hydrate the wbs then mix the dry verm and poo then add water until only a few drops trickle from your fingers when given a hard squeeze.

I wouldn't use this method myself but it's a good way to use poo without the need for spawning and so forth.

uh-huh...  this is a grain tek, use a grain.  wbs, popcorn, rye... get the point?  brf is to soft and will compact.  thats what you don't want happening.
edit: the grains are so there is space for the myc to move and grow into. thats why you can't really innoc right into hpoo or bfr or coir.  If I'm wrong I'd appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable would correct me

if you add BFR to that tek it might help, but you can't get much better nutes then hpoo so it could be a little overkill. but the more food the mushies have to choose from the better they will turn out.

Any type of flour will make it too gooey to colonize. As stated...

If you want to experiment with that I think it would be best to mix the poo with a very course perlite to make the mixture as arid as possible.

The dry verm layer is a very good idea for this.
Edit: It might be best to inoculate with liquid culture.
Edit again: Oh, you said that you were.

If you were going to substitute for the WBS , which I don't know why you'd do it , WBS is much cheaper and easier to find than BRF , why not substitute BR for the WBS ?
