Hey guys.

This mushroom was brought to me so i can only give limited information.

Found growing in a grassy field in mid florida. This area may have decomposing logs(most likely pine, oak, or maple) buried in it. This area was also once used to train horses(2-3 years ago).

The mushrooms were very numerous.

scent is faint, general mushroom smell.
bruising dark orange-brown
cap orangy brown, flesh yellow. stem yellow/brown-tan with age
stalk slightly scaley, no evidence of veil.
spore print brown
the largest specimen is about 2" across, 2-3" tall.

i can add more pictures if needed.

Agrocybe would be my first guess on the genus...

Were there any trees growing in the field near where the mushrooms were growing?

My first thought is Hebeloma, but Agrocybe is an interesting possibility also.

Happy mushrooming!

ya they resemble most cubes i find...the gills are same color, the cap is a little different..rusty instead of white/copper..the stem is a little darker. all i was saying is that i can see how someone could confuse it with a cube..not that waixingren did.

BUMP!

no close trees, the closest thing is an oak about 35 feet away.
