Water Logged Martha

I know this has probably been covered before, but I need help.
A foaf has a martha (portable plastic wardrobe)and its being humidified inside the martha with a vicks coolmist on a 1 hour on 1 hour off schedule, timer has a minimum setting of an hour.
The martha also has two trays of perlite on one of the four shelves.
the wardrobe is not sealed at the bottom with plastic.
The problem is water, the martha has large puddles forming on its shelves and lots of moisture on the casings. What can I do to solve this.  :frown:

drill holes in the shelves or get wire shelves, then rig up one of those wide sweater boxes at the bottom to catch the water, you probably dont need the perlite either, i know a bunch of ppl on here just use a coolmist and are fine

Yeah, replace the shelves like the above post said, and then you could try putting towels at the base to catch the water that drips down, but make sure to change very often as that would be a good place for contams to start growing if you just left damp towels in one palce for a while.

My first martha setup had similar problems. My shelves were wooden...not only did i not get any air flow they started to grow mold right on the shelf.

Home depot sells wire shelfing in different sizes and will cut it for you.

Never did fix the water dripping out the bottom problem.

Cheers,

One hour is too long to run the humidifier. More than a few minutes at a time will cause drips to form. I run mine less than five minutes on, followed by five to ten minutes off. This maintains a high humidity without excessive dripping. You need to seal the bottom and put several trays of perlite down there to catch whatever drips do form.

At the very least, get a timer with 15 minute intervals. They're cheap. Try running 15 on, 30 off.

My old greenhouse had this problem,The extra perlite at the bottom seems to have solved it in the new one,But really you should get some wire shelves
