Time constraints (will I be done?)
    #6429496 - 01/05/07 11:30 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

I know this is a HIGHLY subjective question but here goes,

I will be going out of town for 4 days from the 19-21 of Jan and as such will not be able to take care of my mushrooms! This presents something of a problem to me, because right now I have 4 cakes in the FC (3 have been in for 2 days, 1 was placed today) so firstly, will they finish before these dates or after them? also I have one more cake which just finished colonizing today and I have decided as of 5 minutes ago that I would like to case it! so I know that casing will add about 3 more days to the process, so I'm hoping that either the cakes will finish before anyways or the casing procedure will push it back far enough that it won't matter that I am gone.

Heres as much parameters as I can give you:
Temp: 70F
RH:95%
amt of light: 5-6 hours a day

you can put em in the fridge. And if for some reason you cant, 4 days being gone really shouldnt matter all that much. I've done it before and came home to a nice healthy harvest! =)

you could cold dunk them in  h202 over night in the fridge. This has initiated quick fruiting of cakes before. Once my friend had a B+ cake just sitting in the fridge for 2 months. They were gonna throw it out, but said why not, and dunked it in a bowl filled with h202 overnight. The next morning they placed the cake in a growing chamber and within a few days it exploded in pins that grew into impressive fruit. hope this helps bluhoney

I disagree with dunking in H2O2 from personal experience...

A 1:10 solution of 3% H2O2 and water has completely dissolved a cake of mine overnight.... let alone a full 3% solution....

YMMV though!
