Well, Anno seems to know his stuff and if you check out
http://www.fungifun.org/pf/incubator.htm
you'll see the recommended temperature is 27/80.

I used to have water and a heater in my incubator, but I have since taken them out and my jars grow at room temperature upstairs in my apartment. That's 27/28 degrees. I havent really seen a difference in growth going from 29 (with a heater) to 27 degrees.

So, in my limited experience 81 would seem high enough.

you really don't want it 86 degrees.

84 is a better temp....cause you have 2 more degrees inside your jars.

as far as getting your temp up from 81......either wrap your incubator in something.
or just leave it alone.....81 will work fine.

I put a towel at the bottom of my container.. Helped a little. A rack would be good, though.
