I can't find a news article but I saw today how Bush signed a bill allowing postal workers to open any mail if they deem it an emergency.
Apparently this isn't old news. Just a heads up anyway.

Quote:
"In certain circumstances — such as with the proverbial 'ticking bomb' — the Constitution does not require warrants for reasonable searches," she said.
Hmmm... I don't remember anything about proverbial "ticking bombs" in the 4th ammendment... I recall something about being secure against unreasonable searches and seizures without a warrant issued after probable cause is given under oath.
Quote:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Nope... no bombs... no ticking... not even proverbial ticking bombs seem to be exempt from this. Of course, God doesn't tell me what countries to invade, so what do I know...

yerp... One more of our liberties in which we all felt secure.
The exact terminology is exigent - meaning immediate action...
So does the items you send fall under "with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances" ?
thats so fucked up. there isnt any wording that stops them from opening any mail at will.

Sounds like some complete bullshit to me.
