honey water question

How long after you make honey water can you incolonate with it? Also, how much do I use, just as much as I would with a spore syrynge.

As long as the mycelium stays alive. I've heard people say several weeks, perhaps a month if you keep it in the refrigerator. I've had some for about 2 months now that I just used to innoculate a batch - it worked well.

The main problem I've had with honey water is 1. not getting enough mycelium in the liquid in the syringe (it's difficult to mix) 2. having too much liquid, getting the substrate too wet, often promoting bacillus, which sucks.

I found the best way is to use the syringe to take out a lot of the water (before mixing it) and then cover the top of the jar and shake it up well. The whole jar should turn opaque and when you have it in the syringe it should look almost yellowish.

The more you put in the faster it will colonize, but if you let it sit in the bottom of the jar you _will_ lose it to contamination. Shake up the jars after innoculation - seemed to help quite a bit. Be aware of water content.
