does it have a nicad or nimh battery? i'm wondering because nicad's have to be run down to low power before being recharged and nimh it doesn't matter

Pretty much every laptop in existence today uses lithium ion.

Yeah, I'm no expert but that page looks credible. Personally I wouldn't go to the trouble of micromanaging the charge level like that though. If you stop using your laptop at 20% and carefully charge it to 80%, you may increase your battery's longevity but ultimately you're only getting 60% of its runtime per charge. Why not enjoy it now and just buy a new battery when it starts to crap out?
