a trivet is a pressure cooker rack that keeps the jars off the bottom of the pc.

It is because you don't have enough posts to access the grow log section.

Perlite & BRF Ratio by volume 1 quart jar BRF + 3 quart jars of Perlite
Mix together & stir, adding water.
Continue adding water & stirring. Object is to coat the Perlite with BRF. Plus, add as much total content moisture as possible.
But, not so much water/moisture. When you tip the mixing container. Water runs out. If you over saturate the mixture. Simply tip container & drain off excess water.
Prepare a plastic microwavable container. By drilling several 1/4 inch holes in the lid. (I used 3 holes)
Cover holes with Micropore tape. This provides a gas exchange provision. Plus, at inoculation time. Simply inoculate through the tape. Then apply another (alc dipped) piece over it.
Fill container 2/3rds full of mixture. Spoon it in gently. Do not compact the mixture.
End result should look like this. If water pools on the bottom of the container. Mixture is to moist.
If that is the case. Empty it back into the mixing bowl. Drain & reload.
I also used a quart jar & lid. Rigged for wbs/grain spawn
I placed several trivets in the bottom of an AA 925. Added about 3 inch's of water. Set containers on top trivet. (all lids loose & tightened/snapped down, when removed) Set the PC lid on & applied heat.
I did not tighten the PC lid down. I STEAMED the containers 90 minutes.
The object being. Those with NO PC can replicate this. With a large pot, heavy lid & trivets.
Containers are now cooling overnight. I intend to inoculate them with an LC tomorrow. Then, incubate at 72/74F.
And, we will see how they progress.
If they colonize well. I intend to use this as spawn. To a supplemented coir substrate. The object being. A NO PC bulk spawn, to a readily available bulk substrate.
"Perlite spawn was developed by Lemke (1971). Perlite (1,450 g), wheat-bran (1,650 g), gypsum (200 g), calcium carbonate (50 g), and water (665 cc). The ingredients are mixed, filled in bottles and sterilized. Thereafter, the process is the same as for grain spawn. Perlite spawn is easy to disperse and can be produced at a cheaper cost. This spawn can be stored for a long time." This is the reference, that gave me the idea. I deviated from the Lemke recipe for this trial. If this one doesn't turn out well. I will use a recipe closer to his. I'm just trying to keep it toilet flush simple.

Would this work by just microwaving instead of using a pot?

You would have to account for the moisture loss, this can be done by weighing the tub when prepared correctly and then adding extra water and microwaving until its the original weight.
Perlite readily gives off steam, this substrate is also suited to a microwave as it cannot "explode" like grains.
You should be heating for a similar 90mins, none of this 5mins bullshit I see some do as though they are reheating a meal. For longer times you might have to keep replenishing the tub with new water which should be boiling as it goes in.
I think you should stick to normal methods though.

That’s a great idea.
Plus you get reusable spawn if you really want.
Holy shit you guys are OG members. 04 is when I first found shroomery as a teenager but shit was way too complicated for me back then.
