Easiest Growing Method

Hello, this is my first post at the Shroomery. I have become interested in growing mushrooms as of late, and was wondering if I have the process correct.. I have read the FAQ, so please don't disregard my post.
It seems to me all you have to pretty much do is inject the spore syringe into a Mycobag, put the mycobag in a box and leave the box in 80F room temperature, and wait 5 weeks. Is this all there is to it?
And obtaining spores off the net in America is legal, right? except in California, Idaho, and Georgia?

It will do no good to inject spores into a mycobag unless you know what to put in the bag first and how to sterilize it. A good starting place is the PF tek. Get your feet wet, then move to bigger and better things once you have the basic process down. RR

From what I have read it's not illegal to have mushroom spores for microscopic study, but it is illegal to grow magic mushrooms. If you want to order some spores in a syringe go to http://www.ralphsterspores.com very reputable and discreet because all you do is send a money order, no paper trail. Good luck.

if you buy a presterilized spawnbag and grow it invitro you can basically do that little. dont expect any sort of great yield.

I thought Mycobags have everytihng you need inside the bag such as sterlized mushroom foods? I looked at the PF Tek, and it looks much more complicated than simply injecting spore liquid in a bag and waiting 5 weeks, following this guide - http://www.clusterbusters.com/mycobag.htm
I'm not trying to become a "professional" shroom grower here. I'm just looking for a few cubies to have a good time.
Thanks for the site, JonnyOneNut

presterilized means that yes it is already prepared for you, it only lacks innoculant aka spores suspended in water, invitro simply means that you dont open the bag to fruit it, you just let it fruit off the uncased grains

There is the easiest way to grow a FEW mushrooms. And then there is the easiest way to grow ENOUGH mushrooms to last you and a few friends the next year in one grow.
If you don't wanna bother with preparing grains and what not that's fine. Lots of shroomery vendors have presterlized mycobags of grain.
Once you have a fully colonized bag of grain your really doing yourself a disservice to just let it fruit off the grain in the bag. Either order a little bit of horse poo with your grain bag or go to your local pet store or hydroponic shop and pick up a brick of coir. Then pick up a rubbermaid tub. You can make a mono tub, hydrate the coir and spawn the colonized grain with very little effort.
The TUB grow will yield you much more mush.

i think crubling a pf cake into a small tuperware container and casing it with peat verm is easy but i wouldn't mind tring to case with miracle grow moisture cntrl would be nice cus it's already mixed up for you

Thanks for the info musher_420, I think I might just do that. Would miracle gro work in place of coir like Pika said?
Alsocan anyone tell me, on average, how many grams do you get off of one whole cube of any particular type of strain? I want to know how much I should eat. Is the norm just eating 1 whole shroom?

The size of the fruits is determined by you... not the strain. It depends on the temp, humidity, water content of substrate and casing, depth of substrate, and type of substrate among other things. Genetics is almost negligible.
You have more reading to do.

Almost, but not always.
Unless working with clones, or isolates. Multispore genetics can VARY greatly.
Some fruit far better than others. Multispore is>>> highly variable.

No, you couldn't replace the coir with MGMC. He is talking about using coir as the substrate (the substance that the mushrooms grow off of). MGMC can be used as a casing layer.
For your first trip, you should try about 2 grams of dry shrooms. Shrooms are different sizes, so sometimes that might be 5 small shrooms, or half of a big one.
You should read around this site. I know you said you did, but there is a lot of information on this site. Read all the stuff about growing in the "Mushroom Info" menu at the top of the site. Start here: http://www.shroomery.org/16/Basic-Cultivation-Guides
Any question you could possibly ask has already been asked a hundred times. Use the "Search Posts" link towards the top of the page (not the "Search Our Site" box) to find the answer to just about anything you want to know.

Yes, I realize that. I've done agar work before. I guess that was my stupid way of saying that he can't rely on just the strain or spores in his syringe when trying to figure his potential yeilds.
