Panaeolus subbalteatus has the same potency as Psilocybe cubensis.
From 3-5 grams dried and one feresh ounce to one and a half fresh ounce.
Makes for a potent tea.

I found what looks to be pans today. Since they don't always turn blue, is there any other sure way to tell if they are pans ?

For those of you that gag on the taste of cubensis, the Pan subs have the texture and taste of store bought mushrooms. I read this yesterday on Lyceum. Any comments from someone that has actually eaten them would be apreciated.
I am planning to grow them in my garden in Toronto.

Panaeolus subbalteatus, like all Copelandia species are gaging to the throat. They are an entirely different texture than Psilocybe species.
The Panaeolus are stringy and acrid tasting but not like Gymnopilus spectabilis which is disgustingly bitter.

Pn/ subs are better for a tea. It takes one fresh ounce or from 3-5 dried grams. About the same dosage as for P. cubensis.

Spore-print - if you try to identify mushrooms purely by their bluing response you shouldnt be eating them.

MJshroomer-I'd have to disagree with you on the bad taste. The few times I've eaten them fresh they tasted like store-bought mushrooms. I for one love the trip they give, especially on higher doses. Try eating an ounce and a half fresh or maybe an ounce and 3/4, the trip is absolutely amazing!
Even though I've never grown mushrooms, I probably wouldn't suggest growing Subbs. They can be found in alot of places in the US, and if I were to be growing anything I'd want something more potent.
