The difference is in the mind, and the mind is indifferent. Time only exists in the mind of the observer, along with everything else, and yet nothing really exists at all except for a thought.

Time travel is the concept of moving backward or forward to different points in time.
Mind travel is the concept of exploring the far reaches of the human brain.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the transcendental object at the end of time.

time generally takes the body along for the ride, when time moves, space moves along with it.
for this is precisely how we grow old..
let's say, you're body didn't age over time and its physical state was constant, how would you know of any time?
kind of the same thing goes for thought i think, if your thoughts didn't change, evolve, or grow into new emergent forms, how you would know you were traveling time?
so i guess the difference between the time traveler and the mind traveler is,
the time traveler travels through time with the body,
the mind traveler travels through mind with the imagination.
whereby the mind traveler must eventually return from his journey back to the body, in contrast to the time traveler who does not have the ability to rewind the tape (provided there is no time machine currently available ).

At work today I watched the first part of this video: mckenna
I got out of work early and came home, rolled myself a pinner and watched the second half, and now I feel all bezoomny.

I've got 9 gigs dedicated to his lectures and videos. That's like TWO dvds or something.

To answer this question, you should watch this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5354377779883726771
It's a short French film from the 60's called 'La Jetee' (The Pier). 12 Monkey's was based on it. It's pretty devastating, actually.
