shelf life

how long does mush last usually? If you buy them that is. Obviously it depends on what you were sold but can I get a general idea?

If they are dry then they will last a long time. If they are wet then not so long at all.

I Heard that if they were dried properly, and kept in cold storage, or in a dark, dry place, they can last for 18 months, or better.
Check out some of the preservation methods on this site, and maybe you can experiment.
Shrooms dont last long around here.

The four magic killers are:

1) heat
2) oxygen
3) moisture
4) light

The better you do reducing the above, the longer your fruit will last without losing its magic.

In 1979, mushrooms (P. semilanceata, the liberty cap) mushroom stored in an English herbarium from 1851 was analysed by Ott and Bigwood and found to contain equal amouynts of psilocine and psilocybine when compared to some specimens collected in Oregon and Washington from 1976.

Keep therem aay from heat and light and do not freeze them
