Straw, coir, palletes for bulk

Hey guys I'm trying to think of a real good mix for bulk (no poo available). I am thinking something like 50% straw/25% coir/25% straw palletes (basically straw mush when wet). My question is should I be concerned about PH with this mix?
If so, what should be added? Worm castings? I have 0 experience with such additives so any advice would be appreciated.
anyone else have any similar mixes they have used?
I'm thinking of using foomanhroom's giant thermous (those fucking coolers) tek for past.

I have zero experience with straw, so I won't comment on the possibility of pH additives, but in my experience things liek worm castings, blood meal and manure are only used as nitrogen supplements for raising N in coir and other substrates that need extra N.
hydrated lime, oyster shells and calcium carbonate are used in very small amounts to fuck with acidity levels.
RogerRabbit knows and talks a lot about pH tampering, so I would shoot him a PM.
good luck

I have had good results with straight coir(a little calcium carbonate thrown in for PH.) Cased monotub, 6 quarts rye spawn 1 brick coir. cased with 50/50+. First flush was about 1250 grams wet. Coffee would probably be the easiest additive. Just make sure you pasteurize it.

Is it normally 6quarts of spawn for every brick of coir? I have heard many different variations.

WBS to 50/50 Critter Country (Straw Pellets) and coir
No pasteurization no additives
I have recently used coffee grinds, coir, cc, wc (all filled to field capacity) then added some dry WBS in bags and came out with a decent result.

well one brick of coir makes 8-9 quarts. Considering the spawn quarts are not quite full to allow room for shaking, 6 quarts of rye to 1 brick is about a 1:2 ratio(slightly less.) That's a high spawn rate. You can get away with 1:5. i wouldn't recommend going over 1:5 with straight coir. creamcorn pointed out to me that with coir a high spawn rate is good, since coir alone has a tendency to use up it's nutes in one or two flushes. The extra rye will help you get more flushes. Also the more spawn you have the faster the bulk sub colonizes and the less risk of contams you have.
I haven't tried coffee myself yet(will be sometime.) But i hear alot about it being a bit prone to contams. So i would recommend going with a spawn rate of 1:3 or under when using coffee. Also don't forget you will want to buffer the ph when using coffee.

So if I am using coffee a good rule of thumb is close to 3 parts coir to 1 part spawn?

Also while some do get away using coir without pasteurizing, some don't. I would recommend pasteurizing.
