Bad back
    #6379961 - 12/17/06 05:03 PM (17 years, 4 months ago)

What can I do for a bad back. I'm on the strongest drugs they can give me. Been doing yoga and bridging but it does not help. Stretching my thighs but it not doing much. Has anyone got any good ideas. Had a lot of hot baths and packs but nothing works. Don't want to go under the knife can anyone help.

Bad back how?

Yoga is not an overnight miracle.. it takes time.
Also.. what type of Yoga? A person with back problems should be doing a different type of Yoga. It also depends heavily on the TYPE of back problem you have. A person with a back problem does not belong in a generic hatha yoga class. Look for a class, and an instructor who specifically has a background in yoga regarding back problems.

I know they are expensive but a chiropractor should help.. provided he isn't the type that says come visit me 3 times a week for the rest of your life.

Also.. look into acupuncture, acupressure, and massage therapy.

Walking alot helps out. Also take the pain meds, before you hurt.Going under the knife could help or make it alot worse like trowing gas on a fire.I have two 12 " rods in my back.It was to make my back better. It stopped the 50 agree growing curie in my back.I now have four above and below disc, that are missed up.One bad than about pain meds that they give you dry mouth/cotton mouth that leads to tooth lose.

Yeah. I'm definitely not a chiropractor or kinesiologist, but I like the whole natural approach to treating a bad back. Mine's not bad, but I certainly take care of it as best I can.

Posture, yoga, stretching and massage therapy seem like great options. acu -pressure and -puncture are a little more abstract but also seem to work. Acupressure did wonders for my migraines and I'm totally sold on it. Stretching and massage is also key. I do em daily and it makes me feel fucking excellent.

Good luck with the back, man.

Try using a back hyperextension machine. Simply lying on it will stretch the lower back, and I've found that any time I'm feeling some pain in my lower back, doing a few reps on one, then stretching for 20-30 seconds (repeat a number of times) completely eliminates any and all pain I might have had. If you can find one cheap, buy it. Any good gym should have one.

Is that where they heat glass cups and stick them on your skin so it creates extreme suction, and draws blood out.. supposed to increase circulation?

I don't know about all that...

I'd stick with massage and ginseng and whatnot.
You want circulation.. eat cayenne pepper.

Not me, but did the accupuncture help? Im not an expert but I dont htink you can straighten your spine if its curved. Mine seems curved more than its supposed to be, but not to the point of having that disease. I say dont lift heavy things, when you lift stuff, bend your knees and keep your head looking straight-forward, not down...
what else.... Try rubbing tiger balm, icy hot, stuff with eucaplytus and mint... I dont really know brother Ill try to send some healing Thallus' way...

The curve is at the bottom. my lower lower abs the ones that go across (not the 6 pack)are really weak so need to tighten them up. The acupuncture is just to help the muscles relax that are fighting the curve. It helps a bit but I'm on lots of strong drugs that help.

Are you talking about your obliques?

Poor abdominal strength can cause a lot of lower back injuries and complications. You should work out for a tight, strong mid section once you get cleared for it.

Swimming works really well. And besides that, a concious effort to be postured and balanced, breathing properly.

Circulation has alot to do with it. If you eat fruits as a snack meal, you will not be sapped for energy like eating a tuna sandwhich. That will enable you to more easily be postured.

Weed helps, too. It is a muscle relaxer and that helps your back alot. I'm not saying you don't look like a monkey sometimes. I'm saying that your back is at, what seems to me, a healthy curve.

Drinking helps for the same reason.
