has any one tried doing like perlite mixed with verm for a bottom casing? like 25-75 ratio will this keep it more moist for a second and 3rd flush concidering that after the first flush u can case the top but would this help the bottom?

it makes sense, the first part at least.

Perlite however does not retain water as much as verm. Youd be better of creating a top casing of perlite and verm. Perlite opens up the air and verm keeps it moist. You could also add perlite into the 50/50 mix.

You really wnat to keep the bottom layer not very moist as it really does harbour contaminants and bacteria. It will stay moist throughout the process by itself.
