Hey!!! Blue LED's Work!!!!! NEW PICS!!!!!!

So after my first grow i decided to fork out some cash on my next project. i skipped the PF tech and did good with my first casing. i built a 6 casing fruiting chamber with slide out bins and a Vick's coolmist hooked up. with little room for lights i looked into LED's. with some research i found that myc reacts to blue wavelengths the best. i found an under car LED kit that i modified and mounted in the fruiting chamber. they are high intensity and low profile with no heat radiation so there is no problem keeping the temp regulated. i have two casings pinning like crazy. i think i'm lookin at my first Cannopy Flush. Can't wait till harvest.
I'll have pics up soon but i want to know what you all think. Has anyone else used LED's?

For the record this is a team grow. Me & myCO_psyCO
First flush off two trays 639g wet no casing layer with 2 1\2 in substrate... I know, I know, 3 is optimal but i had short supplies at the time. i'm putting the casing layer on my next two trays tonight so i'm shooting for more than the last time. dunking last two and trying for second flush. i'll keep you all posted.

I have 4 2.4v green LEDs in my case with tin foil on the top to help reflect the light down and the cakes are growing. I don't know if they could do better seeing how this is my first batch, but they work. :o)

"Ps. cubensis responds best to light heavy in the blue- and ultra-violet spectrum, specifically which peak at 370, 440, and 460 nanometers."
taken from the FAQ section of this site, but i recognize it as a quote from The Mushroom Cultivator - who cites a specific experiment performed in proving this. so with all the grey-area opinion sorta things we have to sift through, this one is about as proven as it gets.
also of interest, another study also cited in the same book shows that as little as 1ms (that's 1/100th of a second) of light exposure per day is enough to stimulate pin development. so you can argue simply opening up your FC once a day in ambient room lighting to check on the guys is enough light exposure, without any additional measures. in practicality, you might want to use a little more than 1ms a day.
do whatever works though.
that said, the importance of light is *extremely* overrated and people spend way too much time, effort, and materials in lighting their FC 99.99% of the time. mushrooms are not plants. seems like a simple enough idea, yet people still seem to confuse the two. good pinsets come from optimal environment parameters and proper pinning strategy. light is the least significant thing on the list when it comes to your environment.

I asked this before and was answered with another question. Theoretically, would blue glow sticks work?

This is a very general statement so no flaming for not posting exact details, but as a rule fluorescent lights emit light in the blue/yellow end of the spectrum where as incandecent are on the red/far red end. If you want to get more specific, look for 'cool white' fluorescent bulbs.
Then again, I really like the idea of shrooms via christmas lights.

Theoretically speaking... sure, probably, if you crack a new stick each day.
Practically speaking, I can think of a list better ideas.
Now if you want to talk about a real interesting and totally impractical novelty, it would be fun if a tray of bioluminescent mushrooms grew side by side with cubensis, and the bioluminescent mushroom's natural ability to produce light was enough to stimulate the other to produce pinheads.

So, if light heavy in blue and UV is best... What about a black light?
