UK domestic airport security

I think I've just made a big mistake. I booked a UK domestic flight to go to visit friends/family over Christmas & New Year. Only once I'd booked it did I realise I'd have to go through airport security. I was planning to take some weed back with me but I'm forced to reconsider this now I'm flying, as I'm not keen on being busted, but I don't fly internally so I'm not sure of the security procedures. What I want to ask is does anyone have any experience of the level of security checks on UK internal domestic flights and what do you think the chances of getting under an ounce of weed through. I'd appreciate as much detail/info as you can provide. If anyone's got any specific experience with Birmingham airport security I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

Definitely a bad move there. With the current situation especially. You cant even take any liquids or hand luggage barely.
If I were you why not just post it, with all the post with christmas checks are likely to be minimal to say the least.

The problem with the post is the time it'd take to get there, though I'm considering that as an option.

i'm not well versed on the level of scrutiny and zeal of enforcement that exists in the UK, but the fact that you are even considering this suggests to me that you have a dire need to work on your ability to calculate risk vs. reward.

I haven't calculated the level of risk. I haven't managed to get any information yet to do so. That's my reason for posting here. I don't know level of security (hold baggage or carry on) on domestic flights so I don't know if they're as strict as international flights (where smuggling a bit still isn't impossible) or significantly laxer.

You'd be taking a risk no matter what. I don't know how it is on your side of the pond, but my experience with airport security is that it's inconsistent at best. Sometimes they search with dogs (in which case you'd be discovered no matter where you hide the chilli) and other times they don't even check your shoes.
This may be by design as it keeps terrorists from exploiting security routines. My point is that no matter what anyone tells you, it may turn out different when you get to the airport. Do you really want to take that risk?
Just mail it (carefully packed to avoid odor) and if it arrives late, consider it a lesson to mail early next year.
Good luck, whatever you decide.
