PF & pint jars -- what do I do?
    #638314 - 05/20/02 06:18 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

My first batch of cakes has all but completely colonized each of the jars...but I have a problem: I used pint jars instead of half-pint. So should I cut the cakes in half or would this be counter-productive? What should I do w/ them? Leave as-is? I am using PF-Tek and Treasure Coast strain.

Thanks!

why not make a casing with it? if its a pint then its like putting 2 cakes in the casing. Do be worried about casing as long as you pressure cook everything you will be fine I had first time casing success and I am sure you will too.

If you got pint jars to colonize PF style, That's GREAT. I never
could get pints to do right. But they should be a bigger stronger
network than a typical half-pint cake, and produce more and/or
bigger fruits!
I agree with angry, just leave em, and get a few cakes under
your belt before trying casings.
