hi everyone, I recently innoculated 4 myco bags with 2ccs of puerto rican strain each approx. 11 days ago... keeping at (78-82F), well my question is that after all these days I really dont see any myc. growth.. how long does it usually take to see growth? there seems to be like a semi-white residue on the inside of the bag but it just looks like the substrate is stuck to the inside of the bag a little... I dont think it looks like myceluim but I couuld be wrong.. what does the first signs of growth in the myco bags look like?? also one more thing, there are little spots of brown at some spots stuck on the inside of the bag... it just looks like more residue from the brown vermiculite but not sure on that either, anyone know if it could be a contam?? any help from anyone with or without experience with myco bags would be appreciated... also how much longer before I should give up and send um back? THANX for any help!!!!!

Id just wait it out a bit. What is your temps?? If you have the temps on the cooler side, everythig take a little while longer.

i have equadors colonizing a myco bag now. this is my first experience with one. i have also noticed wht you speak of. first off the bags are not transparent but translucent, so it kinda warps your view. if yours looks like mine then the whitish appearance is mycelial growth. it doesn't look like the growth in jars.furthermore the brown residue is from moist birdseed, verm, and whatever else is included as ingredients inside the bag. and it took a while for me to be convinced that the whitish residue was mycelium. abou two weeks after innoculation but i thought i didn't use enough innoculum. i only used 1cc.

I saw four bags, done in 28 days. The shrooms all grew in the last week of the 28 days. If you're starting to see white, it probably wouldn't hurt to gently mix the substrate in the bag to help the white spread out a little. But only do it once. Hope that helps.
