Asian Flank Steak

INGREDIENTS:
1 (1 1/4 pound) flank steak
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons minced green onions
1 1/2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
1 clove garlic, pressed
1/2 teaspoon corn starch
3 tablespoons water

Score steak diagonally across grain at 3/4-inch intervals.

Combine oil and next 7 ingredients in a shallow dish or heavy-duty zip-top plastic bag - add steak. Cover or seal, and chill 8 hours, turning occasionally.

Remove steak from marinade, reserving marinade.

Grill steak, covered with grill lid, over high heat (400 to 500 degrees) about 6 minutes on each side or until desired degree of doneness. Cook it on the top rack so it doesn't burn.

Bring reserved marinade to a boil in a saucepan, and boil at least 1 minute or until reduced by one-third.

Stir together corns starch and 3 tablespoons water until smooth. Add to marinade; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly for 1 minute; remove from heat. Spoon over steak.

Mine will be done tomorrow. I gave my camera to my sister this past weekend, so I'm not sure if I'll have pictures, but I shall try my hardest.

God damn Suckster, this was fuckin great!

I don't have a camera worth using right now, so no pictures.  However, this will definitely get made again, and I'll add some photos then.

I made a few changes out of necessity.  I had no rice wine vinegar, so I used cider.  No green onion, so I used pearl.  I used fresh squeezed orange juice.  And I used a bit more cornstarch to make the sauce thicker.

This was one of the best things I've made in a while.  Absolutely delicious.  I served it with some fried rice w/ vegetables.

I really can't say enough good things about this.

As promised, I made this again. This time I got pictures.

1. Mixed together the liquids.

2. Chopped some onion, pressed the garlic, and grated the ginger.

3. Mixed the onion, garlic and ginger with the liquids.

4. Took out my steak and put it in a bag with the marinade. Squeezed out the air, put in the refrigerator.

5. Decided I wanted rice with this, so I got out the sesame oil and sesame seeds. Chopped up some garlic and ginger too. Also made 2 cups of rice.

6. I took the steak out about 30 minutes before I was gonna cook it to let it come up to temperature. Normally I give it an hour, but I forgot.
Anyhow, I got that bad bitch on the grill.

7. Got a pan going with some vegetable oil and some sesame oil. Then I threw in the garlic and ginger.

8. Flipped the steak after a couple minutes(I like it rare). Let it go a few minutes more, and took it off to rest while I finished the rice.

9. Added the rice and some mixed vegetables to the pan.

10. Got the sauce for the steak up and running.

11. Cut it, plated it, and ate it.

I made this a while ago.

Flank steak is one of the best tasting steaks and this marinade is a great compliment.

I like the honey in the sauce.

I cooked mine in the broiler just a minute too long but wasnt overdone. Nice and kirspy. I love how it tears apart in strands. Flank is great breaised in the oven too. Great for fajitas too.

Do you have a good recipe for a stuffed flank steak?
I have grown tired of stuffed flank steak made with regular stuffing.
