The other day I had a thought about bugs. I would think that atleast some bugs out of the millions of different kinds may contain a cemical that can get people high. for example: Find the right kinda spider/bettle, kill it, dry it up, throw it in ur pipe and enjoy!! any comments will be appreciated......

I Wanna smoke a bug real bad, a big one like a mantis.
So some people fell that you can eat meat but not smoke a bug, I see no diffrence; besides ants taste real good. I'll go smoke an ant or two right now...

in the jodorowski movie, el topo, an old shamen lady gives him a giant beetle.
jodorowski sucks the juice from the beetle's ass, judging from his expression it tasted extremely bitter. he then tripped out fully and re-enacted his birth, sliding out from under the old lady's skirts, wailing and tearing out his hair. after this he shaved his head and became some kind of monk.
i'm 99.9% sure it was total fiction (tripping on beetle juice, the plot is total fiction), but it may be worth checking out.
el topo was filmed in mexico in the 70s.

yes, the naked lunch is my all time favorite movie. It is a must see for enyone that trips. mushroomboy, I was just razzing ya. Smoke what ya want, hell, if it worked I'd probally try it to.

in a journal article somewhere (?) there is a report of "young people" in the near east (jordan? arabia?) crushing a certain species of insect and inhaling the vapors for some sort of buzz...
~
then there's smoking cobra venom... but that's another story for another time, hehheh...

Not quite what you are looking for, but there is an Indian tribe in north central Mexico that use bugs as a spice. They are extremely hot like chile peppers; probably contain some sort of defensive acid, but am not sure.

The emerald-green blister beetle (Cantharis vesicatoria) contains a chemical call cantharidin. Another name for this insect is "Spanish Fly." Cantharidin is not really an aphrodisiac but when ingested and excreted through the urinary tract it will irritate the lining of the urethra. This irritation may cause an erection and has reportedly been used in bulls to stimulate the desire for coitus (it apparently helps to alleviate the discomfort to the urethra in this manner).
It should be noted that because of the large body size of a bovine, there is a greater leeway in what could be considered a toxic dose and cantharidin is not considered safe to administer to humans in this manner.
Not quite getting you high, but it's the closest one I could think of.
