PC'ed 12 minutes. Very clear & just slightly gold tinted. (no sediment) Will inoculate after it's cooled. And, see how it works.

If this works then there would be no reason why my experiment idea won't. I've been thinking about spawning to sugar cane mulch since i have a pile. What do you think?

hey agar, just cause i spot this lc post.
about the longterm storage of liquid myc, iirc you mentioned (once the lc is ready to use) to use sterile needles to get out as much LIQUID (not myc) as possible.
then squirt in sterile water (and maybe wait some days till the myc digested any still remaning nutes) draw a syringe with myc and squirt into lil jar filled with sterile water -> refrig.
it was about that, wasit ?

For long term storage of mycelium from an LC.
Best bet is to inject into a test tube, w/port or rubber stopper. Or, a vacutainer. Then stand the tube upright. So the mycelium will settle to the bottom. Then, aspirate out as much liquid as possible. Then, inject sterile distilled water.
Object is to remove as much nutrient as possible. Then, refrigerate the tubes.
Lacking air, nutrients & refrigerated. Mycelium in liquid suspension will store for a considerable time.
Another method RR brought to light. Is to colonize a pint or quart jar of wbs/grains. But, have jar only 1/4 to 1/3rd full of spawn.
Then, inject sterile distilled water. Shake the jar violently. (to dislodge mycelium from wbs/grains). Then, aspirate out mycelium into syringes. For long term refrigerated storage. That way, there is no nutrients in the syringe.

What would a considerable amount of time be, relatively? Is there a ballpark window of time you have discovered before they would expire?
Thanks,
DD

Convenient premeasured sugar packets. If it works out, I always like convenience. Good luck.

I used a 5 gram packet, into about 220 ml of distilled water. Heated the jar of water in the microwave. Dumped in the packet content & stirred it. To dissolve the little crystals. Then, added a lid & PC'ed. Cooled overnight, inoculated with about 2 ml spore solution. No stir bar. Incubated around 75F a few days.
Small myc cloud is developing. (hard to photograph)
Object was to just see if it would germinate/colonize. Will test more & adjust for optimal solution.
$0.69 cent box contains 25 packets @ 5 grams each.

What about adding something like gelatin in with the sugar for some amino acids?
