Don't Spores Die When Shipped?

I was under the impression that they had to be kept cold, like in a fridge or somethin. So howcome they don't die when u order them from a vendor, do they put them in a cooler full of ice? Also, do you know a vendor who will innoculate the jars prior to sending or is that illegal? I never seem to be able to get any mycelium growth.
Thanks for your help. Peace.

you have some time before you have to worry about that, and most REPUTABLE dealers, take this into consideration, and dont mass -produce them. these days, we have a lot of fly-by-night venders, who are only out to make a buck. they offer no proof of their knowledge, or no proof of any garuntee's. stick to the well known venders, they wouldnt be well known if they were sending bad products. and remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. as far as you getting myc growth, i would look into my technique, before i doubted the viability of the spores. bad or contaminated spores does happen, but 9/10 times its the cultivators fault, not the spores

The spores don't have to be kept cold. Don't forget, these mushrooms normally grow in hotter countries.
If a vendor innocultaes the jar before sending and the spores germinate while in transit, the jar becomes illegal because it contains living mycellium which in turn contains the illegal chemicals. Thats why we don't innoculate before sending.

this may sound a little strange but I have worked with old spores one from 1972 and brought it back...an Earle-stropharian?? strain...early high times ad....a large...cubensis...at that..maybe very taz like in many ways....some one out of louisiana too....maybe I will find those notes from then yet... I do not even know what it was called back then only a couple of strains were available at all......so......anyway...bla...bla...hey it was goooooood...too...... what you may think as dead and inactive may just be that the spore has not hydrated enough to "germinate" so to speak....contams may well beat it to the goodies and it just did not have enough moisture to activate on time....anyway yeast nutrient or ammonium phosphate ....will help get them jump started depending on the conditions the strain and what ever nature may throw its way at any time... I would suggest NOT storing in a fridge...man are they nothin but contamed...but a coolish and dark spot out of harms' way...until ready for the research to begin.... care....farmer
