Foaf 's apt just got busted, he only had a tray or two of uncased colonized straw. They said they were going to run test on the mycelium, has anyone had this happen or know what mycelium shows on whatever test's they run. There was no pins he kills them before then , nothin elegal you know. Any input would be great ...

i've read that traces of psilocybin can be traced in the late stages of colonization. pretty much right before you birth a cake (if that's what you are doing). i would say if it hasn't started pinning yet you're probably alright.

I have only done limited research on this, but it seems that the mycelium is free of magic at birth and slowly builds it up over time. The buildup doesn't seem to start until after fruitbodies would/have formed. I think this is also why people that extract from cakes with juice report different results. If the cake was young, the results are worthless. If the cake is old, the results seem to be decent. Again, my research here is limited and has not been verified.
The forensics lab will probably take a sample of mycelium and soak it in a solvent to try and extract any magic. They will then run the solvent/magic through LC and look for the bands that would indicate psilocybin or psilocin. Unless this test turns up positive, they usually won't bother with GC/MS. My guess is that you will get lucky and the LC will turn out negative.
If it turns out positive, don't lose hope. You only have to convince one juror that they screwed up the lab results somehow. There is always the chance of contamination in the lab (chemical, not biological in this case). You can really drive this point home if the amounts they find are small to almost undetectable. I also doubt that the continued to store the evidence in a sterile environment. This may be the one time to pray for biological contamination to move into the casing. Remember to tell your friend to never admit to anything, ask for legal council before answering any questions other than your true name, never lie but instead invoke your 5th amendment rights, and be very polite and curteous.

Their was a thread about when mycelium goes good I think it's right when it pins or just right before. mabey someone will post a link to that old thread that would be very cool of someone.

I think psilocybin starts forming after pins have appeared. But traces can be found before of that too. I want to know what happened to your friend! How did he got busted? I hope he will be ok!

Thanks for the insight , helps him sleep a litle better at night. To answer your question , a roomate let them inn and they saw something wierd looking in the corner of one room .and asked to have a look and of course he said sure . Thanks again
