standing water?

ok, my PF jars have looked healthy for 2 weeks now. they have always appeared to be a little wet, but this morning i checked them and one has water standing at the bottom. what should i do? the jar is almost completely colonized (around 95%) and i don't want any bacteria build up obviously.

Has anybody ever tried putting a "vermiculite seal" on both the top and the bottom of the jars? The bottom layer would be to absorb excess moisture rather than to act as a barrier like the top layer does. You would also have cakes which were "double end cased" already upon birthing.

I donno what to tell you on the standing water.

Yes, I do it as a matter of couse, after problems with jars 'sticking' to the bottom.
An 1/8" is all you need, it helps to get the cake out, theres no banging jars on lid needed.

Good luck

My friend did some whole brown rice jars with verm and there was water sitting on the bottom. What he did was flip it over for a day or so, then turned it back. It turned out great.

TOo much water is usually bad tho.
