yesterday my friend birthed a jar. about an hour later he went to work , about 6 hours later he came home and took the lid of of the container that the cake was in, he was very exausted from his new job and not all the way awake and he went to turn the cake buy grabing the lid of the jar that it was sitting on because he thought he saw some contaminats, while he was turning the cake the side of his finger accidently touched part of the cake and the glass , his question is will this ruin his cake and if there is anything he can do , also he did not wash his hands and he works at a resturant so his hands were dirty . any help would be apreciated thanks

well.. chances are it may not have been contamunsted. I touch my cakes all the time when I move them or flip them. Although you mentioned your hands were dirty, so depending on what was on them it has a much better chance of contamination. Some contaminants won't even show themselves until a week or two later, from my expeirence. is that your only cake or something?

Depends on if the cake was fully colonized or not.
Cakes are very forgiving.

no it is not his only cake , it was just the one that finished first , his hands were not dirtly so much that if you looked at them you could see dirt, he works at a pizza place and he is a waiter . i thought of another question , when my jars are coverd in white but you can still see through a little brown color on the pieces of vermiculite that are pressed against the glass is it ok to take them out or should i let them go untill i cant see anything but white

if it's just a flake of verm sitting against the glass, it's fine to birth. as long as you can't see any of your nutritive substrate (ie. brf)

as for the vermicuilte in the cakes, geokills is right, sometimes i pull cakes that have alot of verm on it, just dust as much off as i can, sit em up right, they are fine. as for touching the cake, i prolly touch mine more then i should, but i pour some rubbing alchol on my hands and then go at it, but ive touched em b4, after going out side, so it should be straight, just wait it out a few days, and look for any contaims in there. hope this helps peace rain
