Well I am helping my FOAF pick the mushrooms that grew. The veils are about to break. So after the first flush is picked, should the cake be left alone to start a second flush? I heard much about dunking the cake, but I dont feel its necessary.

Everything should be fine if you just leave the cakes alone for the second flush. Be sure you pick all the aborts or they will start to rot on the cake. The dunking isn't needed, but most people find that it greatly increases the yields of the next flush.

Follow the dunk tek between flushes. Youll get more fruit and its very easy to do.

Dunking would help your 2nd flush a hell of alot.

Definetly, my FOAF found that dunking really helps! So drop those SOB's into a ziplock baggie and add a cup fulla' water, roll it up/air out, and stick em somewhere for 12 - 24 hours. Then pat em down with a paper towl.
